It seems that Photo Drive has a bug/functionality limitation. I tried downloading some photos, and the application becomes unresponsive and crashes. This only happens when I queue up many photos to download (downloading a set for instance).

Are you using multiple threads? In iOS, if you don’t spawn off a download thread then your downloads interfere on the main thread which should be used mostly for UI and garbage collection.

I had an application on the iPhone that had this issue, but spawning a thread to download in the background fixed it.

Let me know if this is one of the bug fixes that you’ve referenced on your blog.

      Hi Matt,

Thanks for letting me know. I am using a background thread but maybe I’ve got some kind of sync issue that’s been more regularly exposed by the new update. I’ll try and replicate it and get a fix posted.

      Thanks again,

I was just checking out your app in the App Store. Congrats, looks pretty good.

Happy with your sales so far?

I’ve been working with some app developers the last few months, and I’ve learned that there’s two aspects that you need to focus on to be really successful selling apps in iTunes. I’d be happy to share what I’ve learned if you’re interested. Just let me know and I’ll send you a quick overview. (I’m not trying to sell you information, just don’t want to bother you if you’re not interested in what I have to share.)

    Best of luck,
    Ed Turner

[…] and there still aren’t any good officially licensed Star Trek games. Lucky for us, developer James Randall, (aka Accidental Fish) is releasing his iOS remake of that BASIC classic, Padd Trek, for free. […]
